Breakbulk

The Amsterdam Container Terminal can handle containerized and non-containerized breakbulk in the Indented Berth up to 135 metric tonnes (including handling gear), without the use of a floating crane.

The gantry cranes can lift 65t under a spreader and without a spreader they can lift 100t under the cargo beam up till 33m. At full outreach of the cargo beam, the gantry crane can lift 75t. Between 100 and 135T, the items are handled by two opposite cranes while the cargo is delivered or picked up by a barge alongside the mother vessel.

Heavier breakbulk can be handled in the classic way with the help of a floating crane handling items on the vessel's stern, or by putting the vessel on the Marginal Berth and using a floating crane.
