Veterinary checkpoint

Amsterdam Container Terminals (ACT) and Amsterdam Coldstore Solutions (ACS) offer the possibility for importers of Veterinary commodities to have their container/goods pre-inspected at the RVV station in Amsterdam in line with all necessary legal requirements.

In Amsterdam there is one facility where the RVV inspectors can do the inspection. This is at ACS (Amsterdam Cold Storage BV), which is located 250 yards from the ACT. ACS is also a facility which can be used for cold storage (frozen and chilled).

Pre-Inspection – How it works
The importer, importer’s agent or trucker will book with ACS for pre-inspection service. ACS will coordinate with ACT the delivery of the reefer containers from ACT reefer stack to ACS (distance 250 meters) through internal transport. After inspection at ACS by RVV inspectors, ACT will pick up the container at ACS and return to ACT in the reefer stack. After pre-inspection the reefer container is available for receipt by importer for transport to place of delivery (warehouse). This activity will be done under the ACT customs regime and is mutually agreed between customs, ACS and ACT.

Advantages
Following are the advantages of the pre-inspection service for the importer:

- Inspection service will be done under authority of ACT/ACS
- Document cost saving; only one T1 document needs to be made for the importing of reefers through ACT
- Lower trucking costs for pre-inspected reefer containers delivered at ACT:
o No waiting times for truckers at RVV station (saves > 1 hrs for truckers)
o Trucking companies can plan more trips/day if they donot have to stop at RVV station
o No risk of missing appointment at RVV by trucker
o No risk of missing documents and related additional costs
   o Less trucking kilometers required
- After pre-inspection importers/trucker can pick up the container at ACT ‘24/7’ and thereby perfectly schedule their logistical operation at their warehouse
