What do I do in case of a difference in manifest and custom documents?
When, for instance, there is a difference in weight between the container manifest from the shipping line and the received particulars from the shipper, the customer has to warn the shipping line in time before the vessel arrives. The shipping line will warn ACT and ACT will adjust the manifest.
When the above in not finalized, the weight difference will show up only when the IE 29 has been printed by the customs and input has been done in the ACT systems. Then the difference is clearly shown between the container manifest (general declaration) and the transit document.
When the difference is more than 5%, the customs weight hold will automatically fall and the container has to be checked/ weighted by customs officers.
