How will I receive my Import container?
Customer (forwarder/ shipper) gives the MRN number of the IE 28 (not yet active) document by fax or e-mail to ACT. The terminal processes the MRN number in their system. Upon delivery of the container by truck, the driver activates the signal to the customs to make the IE 28 an active Transit document (together with the seal number from the received liners manifest). The IE 29 guidance form will be handed over to the driver at the seal check point and then the driver can leave the terminal.
Or the IE 29 form is sent by fax or e-mail to ACT, where it will be processed in the system, so that the truck driver can enter ACT to pick up the container.
When delivery by barge or rail, the load list will be handed over to the customs house at the Amsterdam Container Terminal together with the MRN number and seal number. They will activate the IE 29 and the guidance form will be handed over to the sub contractors.
An officially allowed consignee will be able to activate his own NCTS-documents and to print the guidance form. When the driver is not in the possession of a customs document, he’ll have to print a trouble ticket and go to the gate house where the MRN-number will be entered into the system, so that the driver can pick up the container.
In case of a clearance document, this can be sent by fax or e-mail and it will be processed in ACT systems. The driver can enter ACT, pick up the containers and at the seal check, the driver will receive the document.
The clearance document can also be brought in by the truck driver. The driver has to get a trouble ticket, go to the gate house where the document number will be entered and then the driver can pick up the container and he’ll receive the clearance document when leaving ACT.
